CENTRAL THOUGHT Angels are messengers of God sent to minister to the needs of the Saints.     HYMN: THE KING OF GLORY, HE IS GOD ALONE Text: Genesis 19:1-13, Exodus 33:1-2, Acts 12:6-11   Introduction: The word “Angel” means “messenger”. Angels are heavenly spirit beings of a higher nature than flesh and blood beings. They are not limited by time, space and physical barriers like closed doors, walls, and other material objects. There is no record to show exactly when the angels appeared in heaven but they were with God at creation to worship Him for things, created (Psalm 148:1-5). That does not imply however that they were not created. They were created by God for specific duties (Eze. 28:14-15). Generally, they are messengers of God to do His purposes on earth. Despite the fact that they have divine nature and are made a little more superior than mankind (Psalm 8:4-5), they are not to be worshipped. (Revelation 22:8-9). God certainly doesn’t want us to worship angels but He does want us to be aware of them, that they are living, active spirit beings work for Him in the unfolding of His mighty eternal plan.   CENTRAL THOUGHT Remembering God’s wonders of old gives us fresh courage to face each new day. HYMN: O LORD, MY GOD, WHEN I IN AWESOME WONDER Text: Psalm 77:1-20, Exodus 14:22   Introduction: Remembering is to bring back to the mind through an act of memory, to become aware of or think again, to recall to the mind with effect or determination to retain in the mind: keep carefully in memory and to keep in mind as worthy of affection, reward or recognition. To remember therefore is to recall, recite or reproduce past experience. You therefore cannot remember what you have not known. It is what you have acquired through the senses that is seen, heard, felt, tasted and smelt that is memorable. Hence, we must have studied the word of God in some details to remember God’s wonders of old. “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth: but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success” (Joshua 1:8).
