  HYMN: WHEN WE WALK WITH THE LORD CENTRAL THOUGHT Tithe and Offering are obligations of the Christian done in honor to God.   TEXT: Mal 3:7-12, Prov. 3:9-10, Gen 14:18-20 INTRODUCTION The payment of tithe was first mentioned in the Bible in Genesis 14:20 when Abraham gave tithes of his goods to Melchizedek; the priest of the Most High God. However, the tithing system was practiced exclusively during the time of Moses (Lev. 27:30-34; Deut. 14:22) and the Israelites were expected to give one tenth of their earnings in cash or kind for the upkeep of the Levites and administration of the Temple. This continued until the time of Malachi when the people of Israel refused to give tithes and the Levites went to work to earn a living, thereby neglecting their God-given responsibilities to care for the Temple and worship. God became angry and unhappy with His people for their refusal to give tithe and offering.In the present-day Church, the main source of income is through tithe and offering. Without it, financial obligations to both Pastors and members will be left unattended to.   CENTRAL THOUGHT: Building on Christ the solid rock guarantees eternal reward.   HYMN: MY HOPE IS BUILT ON NOTHING LESS   TEXT: Matthew 16:13-18; 7:24- 27; 1 Peter 2:4-8 INTRODUCTION: Prophet Isaiah, one of the Old Testament prophets moved by the Spirit of God, revealed over 2000 years ago, God’s plan to lay in Zion a tested stone (solid dependable, reliable), a precious Cornerstone (invaluable) for a sure foundation, and anyone who believes or trusts in Him will never be dismayed. We also find that Apostle Paul while admonishing the Church at Corinth in 1 Corinthians 10:1-10, warned against the dangers and consequences of backsliding and unbelief. HYMN: THERE’S A LAND THAT IS FAIRER THAN DAY   TEXT: 2 Samuel 12: 15-23; Philippians 1:21-23; 1 Corinthians 15:42-44   INTRODUCTION:  “…for what is your life? It is even a vapor, that appeared for a little time, and then vanished away”, James 4:14. The physical life of man is brief. However, death is a universal experience for all of mankind. There’s no individual, whether rich or poor, wise or foolish, great or small that has power to resist in the day of death. Psalm 89:48 says, “What man is he that lived and shall not see death? Shall he deliver his soul from the hand of the grave?” The appointment with death is compulsory for both the believer in Christ and the non-believers in Him. The Lord Jesus conquered death for the believers and defeated Satan that had enslaved mankind in the fear of death. To the believer death is gain, triumphant, and to be greatly desired.
