CENTRAL THOUGHT The peace with God through Christ’s suffering.   Text: Matthew 27:27-54   INTODUCTION The word Passion as used Galatians 5:24 can be defined as strong feeling, intense desire or enthusiasm towards something.  It is also referred to as affection and lust of the flesh.  Paul in his letter said “those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh and its passion and desires”.  However, when Passion is used in relation to Jesus Christ, it refers to his suffering and death, in which case it is prefixed by the word “The”, The Passion (of Jesus Christ).  In the Christian world, this period is referred to as the “The Passion Week”. It starts from “Palm Sunday” when Jesus triumphantly entered into Jerusalem as a king, through to “Good Friday”, when he was crucified.  In our study, we shall examine some of the agonies and pains experienced by our Lord Jesus during “The Passion Week”.   LESSON OBJECTIVES The objectives of this study are: To Critically examine Christ suffering. CENTRAL THOUGHT The Lord expects believers to be united.   TEXT: Psalm 133: 1-3, John 17:21-23, Ephesians 4:1-6.   INTRODUCTION The Lord Jesus Christ prayed for the unity of his disciples as we have read in John 17. The unity that Jesus prayed for was not organizational unity but spiritual unity based on believing in Him. Amos 3:3 asked; can two walk together except  they be agreed? This question is so pertinent for us to understand the importance of brethren walking in unity. If we have known and experienced the love of the Father and the fellowship of Christ, we ought to obey the injunction of our Lord that we love one another as He has loved us. It is only by loving one another that we can be united as the body of Christ, each of us carry out our functions to complement each other. What Jesus has in mind was not ordinary fellowship but one that endeavors to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. CENTRAL THOUGHT  The good of the land is for the obedient heart.   TEXT: Isaiah 1: 16-20. INTRODUCTION God is very much concerned about the comfort and welfare of His people. It is His utmost desire to bless, protect and provide for His children. God wants us to depend on Him as our source for every need of our lives. He is the rightful owner of the good of the land. The earth is the Lords and the fullness thereof (Psalm24:1). The beast of the forest, silver and gold belong to the Lord (Psalm. 50:10, Haggai 2:8. God is the one that gives us power to get wealth [Deut.8:18] True prosperity is a function of divine connection. When you are connected to God and ready to obey Him whole heartedly, you will prosper. The believer must however pattern his/her life in obedience to God’s word in order to continually be a beneficiary of these divine blessings.
