CENTRAL THOUGHT A believer who is heaven bound must continually thirst and hunger after righteousness. HYMN: MY HOPE IS BUILT ON NOTHING LESS TEXT:  Matt. 5:6; Prov. 14:32-34; Matt. 6:31-33 INTRODUCTION Righteousness has to do with having a right standing with God. This can only be achieved through accepting that which Christ did for us by dying for us on the cross of Calvary. “For He hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him” (2Cor.5:21). Man’s righteousness cannot meet God’s demand, all our righteousness are as filthy rags (Isa.64:6). In the world of today, righteousness is fast becoming an issue almost going extinct in our modern society. In some instances, it is even difficult to distinguish between believers and unbelievers by the way they speak, comport themselves and dress etc.  The Lord knows those that are His and let everyone that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity (2Tim.2:19). Therefore, for us to live lives pleasing and acceptable to God, we must earnestly thirst and hunger after righteousness. In the first part of this study, we examined what righteousness is, and God’s expectations concerning those He has imputed righteousness. In this concluding part,...

CENTRAL THOUGHT As believers in Christ righteousness should characterize our way of life. HYMN: MY HOPE IS BUILT ON NOTHING ELSE TEXT: Matt. 5:20-48 INTRODUCTION: Righteousness refers to one having a right standing with God based on one’s acceptance by faith for the finished work of Christ on the cross of calvary. This is reflected in our living right and doing what is right in the sight of God. It calls for having a deep commitment to doing what is pleasing to God and also which will lift up the name of the Lord where ever we find ourselves. Righteousness has been imputed on all who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and personal savior. God is righteous (Ps. 7:9) and also a righteous judge (Ps. 9:4 NIV). God expects us as His own dear children therefore to be righteous. We must understand that our righteousness cannot meet God’s demands because all our righteousness are as filthy rags before Him (Isa.64:6). God has made Jesus Christ our righteousness (1 Cor.1:30; 2 Cor. 5:21). He expects us therefore to live righteously before Him all our lives here on earth. “For the grace of God which bringeth salvation had appeared to all men, teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly...

STANDING FAST IN THE LORD, May 15th 2022

CENTRAL THOUGHT The Christian faith requires patience, courage and steadfastness. HYMN: STAND UP, STAND UP, FOR JESUS TEXT: Eph.5:1-21; 6:10-18 INTRODUCTION: As we draw closer to end-times, many believers are troubled in heart at the local and global events happening daily. Many of these events are direct threats to our faith, while some others are threatening our existence as humans. In another sense, the devil is using subtle means to mount pressure on believers to lower standards of morality and holy living, and to distance humanity from true fellowship with the living God. Satan knows fully well that his time is running out; and has therefore put in place several measures to distract the church with ungodliness. For the believer to succeed in his Christian race, he must know why he is in the race, desire to remain in the race and be sure what to do to accomplish the race. Being a spiritual race, he must fully rely on God for strength and must be determined to forge ahead in the face of stiff opposition. He must be rooted and built up in Christ so that he can stand fast at all times. This study is therefore aimed at encouraging us to be resolute, unwavering and tenacious in...

THE SANCTITY OF MARRIAGE, May 8th, 2022

CENTRAL THOUGHT Godly foundation, guarantees the sanctity of marriage. HYMN: I’M PRESSING ON TEXT: Gen. 2:21-25; Eph. 5:21-33 INTRODUCTION Marriage, was instituted by God in the garden of Eden where God placed the first man He made Adam. God also provided a ‘help meet for him’ (Gen.2:18) whom Adam called woman, “the bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh.” The man and woman were called husband and wife. God originally intended that marriage should be an estate of sanctity, (-saintliness, godliness, holiness). Hence marriage is described as Holy matrimony. This study focuses on some factors that have polluted the marriage institution, and attempt to offer possible solutions. LESSON OBJECTIVES The objectives of this study are: To understand the type of foundations that we can lay for the sanctity of marriage. To examine some of the factors that have polluted marriage institution. To discuss some of the factors that can promote the sanctity of marriage. BIBLE TRUTH Q1. WHAT FOUNDATION CAN WE LAY FOR THE SANCTITY OF MARRIAGE? Marriage is a union of a man and a woman who live throughout their life time having having all things in common, being in one accord in every area of their lives. The individuals should realize that it is the creation of...

CENTRAL THOUGHT Ye do err not knowing the scriptures. HYMN: WHEN WE WALK WITH THE LORD TEXT: Matt 22:23-33; Lk.2:40-52 INTRODUCTION The word of God has often been acknowledged as the inerrant, invariable rule by which the believer lives. The Israelites had just the Old Testament before the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. We are privileged in our dispensation to have both the Old and New Testament as the written word of God. By the word, believers are sanctified, separated unto a walk with God almighty even as the Lord. Jesus Christ prayed: “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth”. (John 17:17) At age 12, the boy Jesus made teachers of the law who are sometimes referred to as “doctors of the law” appear shallow in their knowledge of the Scriptures. The Pharisees, Sadducees and the Scribes nonetheless persisted in testing the Lord with what they perceived to be “hard question” but on each occasion the Lord turned them into pupils who needed to be taught. On one occasion the Lord told them very pointedly what their basic problem was: “..Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God” Matt.22:29. In this study we seek to understand the context of this statement, and...

CENTRAL THOUGHT God is graciously inviting all to Himself through the Lord Jesus Christ. HYMN:  I AM THINE, O LORD Text: Romans 1:18-32, 2:1-10 INTRODUCTION: Very soon we shall all stand before the throne of God to give account of our lives here on earth. One may say “No time now to study the Bible, no time to pray, no time to go to church, no time to live a holy and righteous life” but a day is coming when everyone will wish they had lived a holy and righteous life; but it would have become too late. What shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his precious soul in hell fire? Though one may accumulate abundant wealth and fame here on earth and does not have Jesus, it is just a waste. Peter said in 2 Peter 3:10-12 “…the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up”. A life without God is a hopeless end. God created man to have fellowship with Him, but when man fell, having chosen to disobey God, he lost his glorious union and fellowship with God. Man became a sinner by nature and consequently a servant...
