THANKSGIVING

Central Thought:

Thanksgiving is an expression of gratitude to God for all of His benefits.

Text:

Psalm 100:4; Romans 12:1-3; Ephesians 5:19-20; Philippians 4:6; 1 Thessalonians 5:18

It is important that each one of us answer the questions: “Am I thankful to God? Does this reflect in the way I live?  Does it show in unfeigned dedication to God’s service and His people?”  What is apparent is that while it is appropriate to sincerely offer thanks to God at a designated service, God requires much more from us.  He expects that all we are, say and do should flow daily from heartfelt gratitude for all He has done for us in Christ Jesus.  It is also obvious that offering thanksgiving to God has nothing to do with impressing our pleasing men.  Those whose desire always is to please men must realize that they cannot earn God’s approval.

Memory Verse:

Ephesians 5:20 – “. . . . giving thanks always for all things to God the father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
