EATING THE GOOD OF THE LAND, March 31ST, 2019

CENTRAL THOUGHT  The good of the land is for the obedient heart.   TEXT: Isaiah 1: 16-20. INTRODUCTION God is very much concerned about the comfort and welfare of His people. It is His utmost desire to bless, protect and provide for His children. God wants us to depend on Him as our source for every need of our lives. He is the rightful owner of the good of the land. The earth is the Lords and the fullness thereof (Psalm24:1). The beast of the forest, silver and gold belong to the Lord (Psalm. 50:10, Haggai 2:8. God is the one that gives us power to get wealth [Deut.8:18] True prosperity is a function of divine connection. When you are connected to God and ready to obey Him whole heartedly, you will prosper. The believer must however pattern his/her life in obedience to God’s word in order to continually be a beneficiary of these divine blessings. How to demonstrate this obedience and be blessed of the Lord will be the focus of this study.   LESSON OBJECTIVES The objectives of this study are: To understand the mind of God toward His children To identify the conditions attached to receiving blessing. To discover how we can demonstrate obedience to God. To identify some of the blessings God has for His children.     BIBLE TRUTH Q1. POINT OUT THE MIND GOD TOWARDS HIS PEOPLE, FROM THE FOLLOWING SCRIPTURES. PSALMS 35:27; JER. 29:11; LUKE 22:32. The bible reveals God as our dependable provider [Phil.4:19]. He cares for all our needs. He has good thoughts towards all His children. He desires the best for them. As true Christians, we are very precious in the sight of God. God cares for us even more than an ideal mother takes care of her suckling child [Isaiah .49:14-15]. 1Peter 1:18-19 says “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Jesus Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot”. If God could love us so much while we were yet sinners, as to redeem us with the precious blood of His begotten Son, how do you think He will not provide for all our present need. God never forsakes his own in the midst of famine. The Psalmist testifies to this: ‘I have been young and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread” Psalm 37: 25. The Lord who took care of the children of Israel for forty years in the wilderness, the Lord who provided for Elijah at the time of famine and took care of the widow of Zarephath [1 Kings. 17: 1-16] is our God. The mind of God is that of God is that His people should look up to Him as their Great physicians when they are sick, their Deliverer when they are oppressed, their supplier when there is dryness and famine, their provider when they are poor. He has the ability and willingness to meet every need. His wealth is for His children, for ‘we are the sheep of His pasture’. God desires to give His children a future and a hope. CENTRAL THOUGHT: The Holy Spirit is given to the believer for empowerment and for service.   Text: Joel 2:28-32; Acts 2:1-13; John 14:15-27   INTRODUCTION The Holy Scriptures is full of references to the Spirit of God coming upon individuals and performing supernatural feats.  The essence of the Holy Spirit has never been lost to any generation that walked with God.  He is the agent of fellowship between man and his Maker. When a person accepts Christ as Savior, the Holy Spirit comes into life.  This is the beginning of the new birth.  He becomes a companion and guide to the believer in all matters of life and godliness.  This initial presence of the Holy Spirit in the life of a new believer is automatic, immediately such a believer confesses Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of his life.  However, this is not the ultimate. For the purpose of endowment and manifestation of ministerial gifts for the service of God, the believer is to experience another level of infilling by the Holy Spirit.  This is the baptism of the Holy Spirit that the disciples of Jesus experienced on the day of Pentecost.  This infilling is heralded by a desire to receive and to function.  No one can live to glorify God and do greater works for God except by the power of the Holy Spirit. This study will focus on the person of the Holy Spirit and the conditions for receiving him.   LESSON OBJECTIVES The objectives of this study are: Explain the personality of the Holy Spirit. Discus the place of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer. Identify evidences of the presence of the Holy Spirit in a believer’s life. Explain how we can develop and sustain a cordial fellowship with the Holy Spirit.   Bible Truth Q1. WHO IS THE HOLY SPIRIT?  John 14: 15-17 The Holy Spirit is a Divine personality, being the third personality in the Godhead.  He has the attributes of knowledge, intelligence, feelings and affection.  He speaks, knows all things and can be grieved.  He is God’s gift to all who believe and accept Christ as their Savior.  He is the comforter of the believer, welling up an inexplicable inner joy even in the face of trials of faith.  He is the Teacher and a Guide, the Spirit of Truth that testifies continually about our Lord Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit is the eternal and omnipresent Spirit of God (Hebrews 9:14), the Spirit of holiness (Romans 1:4), and the author of spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians12:8-11).   Q. 2 DISCUSS THE PLACE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN THE LIFE OF THE BELIEVER. BELIEVING GOD’S INTERVENTION, March 17th, 2019

CENTRAL THOUGHT: Healing is the children’s bread.   Text: Esther 4, 5, 6 (reading text; Esther 6:1-14)   INTRODUCTION Esther was an orphan brought up by her cousin Mordecai in Shushan during the reign of Ahasuerus.  She was made queen by the great hand and favor of God to be used of God to deliver the Jews from being exterminated.  A fair girl, obedient to her parents and authorities, she found favor with the king to be made queen out of choice from seven others, who had gone through purification for one year. The enemy of the Jews, Haman through his hatred for Mordecai, had planned to exterminate the Jews.  This plat came to the notice of Mordecai, who decided to use Esther the queen.  Esther, ignorant of the plot merely sent clothes to Mordecai to replace sack-cloth he had on.  When the plot was made known, she hesitated because of the royal statutes which forbade her to come before the king except on invitation.  When she was challenged to consider why God had placed her there (4:14), she went into action and dared to believe God. God honored the general fasting and prayers called for by Esther.  She was granted favor to see the king; Mordecai was honored and paraded in that lory by his enemy.  God also granted self-defense to the Jews, who would have been slaughtered like defenseless rams; and finally, the enemy of the Jews, Haman, hanged himself on the gallons he had prepared for Mordecai. We are admonished that God will always fight for us if we will dare to believe and continually abide in Him.   LESSON OBJECTIVESThe objectives of this study are: To identify what hinders Christians from doing God’s will. To understand how to use our positions to serve God. To know our potentials as Christians. To understand that God always intervenes in the lives of Christians. To appreciate that we need to motivate on another to live for God.     BIBLE TRUTH Q1. EXAMINE THE CIRCUMSTANCES FOR WICH ESTHER DARED TO BELIEVE. When the decree, that the Jews in the nation be killed by the twelfth month, came to any of the provinces, “there was great morning among the Jews, with fasting, and weeping, and wailing; and many lay in sack-cloth and ashes”, 4:3.  Mordecai had come before the King’s gate clothed with sack-cloth which was customary to do, v2.  Esther did not want to defy the law of the land which could make her to be put to death if she did not receive the king’s favor.  She feared she might die should the king refused to hold out his golden scepter. Esther did not realize that whether she went or not, her fate was hanging on the balance.  She must have felt secure in the king’s palace.  She must have forgotten herself as a Jewess, yet known as such by the people who were perpetrating such evil. BELIEVING GOD FOR DIVINE HEALING, March 10th, 2019

CENTRAL THOUGHT: Healing is the children’s bread.   TEXT: Isaiah 53: 4-5; Mark 7:24-30; James 5:13-18.   INTRODUCTION God revealed Himself to Israel as their Healer from the beginning, one of the divine names revealing God’s character and name is YAWEH (Jehovah) Repheka ‘the Lord your physician;’   which is translated in Exodus 15:26, ‘the Lord that health thee’ [Jehovah-Rapha]. The psalmist David saw Him as the One who as part of His benefits heals all our diseases, or more literally, the physician for all thy diseases(Psalm103:3). David first proclaimed the Lord the forgiver of all our iniquities and then the healer of all our diseases. Therefore, if we expect the Lord to meet our physical needs we must first permit Him to cure our spiritual ills. In the ministry of the Lord Jesus, we see Him bringing both God’s forgiveness and God’s healing to all who came to Him believing. In fact, His ministry as savior and Healer are very closely tied together in the New Testament. At Calvary He fulfilled the fifty-third chapter of Isaiah which says he bore our griefs (literally, our sicknesses) and our sorrows (literally our physical pain). At the same time, He was wounded (pierced) for our transgressions (rebellious sins) and bruised for our iniquities (crushed for our guilty sins) and with His stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53: 4-5) The concern about a healing pre-supposes the possibility of at least an ailment. Our Lord Jesus assured of this in John 16:33”. in the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I expected, our response to affliction, including physical affliction is a real test of Christian maturity and character. Unfortunately, the Christian at times appear ignorant of his rights and privileges in the Lord and unknowingly becomes subjected to Satan’s plays. The time has come for us to rightly appropriate our blessing and inheritance in the Lord on a daily basis with the case with which we consume physical bread.   LESSON OBJECTIVESThe objectives of this study are: To understand the meaning and origin of sickness, infirmity and disease. To understand Gods health/ healing plan. To understand that the believer can enjoy divine health/healing. To understand that miraculous healing is still possible today. To understand that no sickness is above Gods healing power.     BIBLE TRUTH   Q1. WHAT DO YOU UNDERSTAND BY THE TERMS SICKNESS, INFIRMITY AND DISEASE? Sickness is a state of ill-health, unwell and illness. To be infirmed is to be weak physically and mentally, disability, often due to old age. Whereas, disease is to have an abnormal condition; literally it has to be out of ease, no longer at ease. There is a catalogue of sickness and diseases that plague mankind. As if these were not enough, new and hitherto unknown sickness and diseases are continually added to this never-ending list. The origin of sickness and disease is traced back to the fall of man. Sin brought sickness and all other deteriorating phenomena. The opposite of sickness and disease is Health. Health according to the World Health Organization (W.H.O) is a state of complete physical mental and psychosocial wellbeing and not a mere absence of health is the inalienable and undisputable right of the regenerated man.   Q2.
