The need to differentiate between the call of God and the seeming “call” of man cannot be more appropriate today than ever before as there is this deliberate attempt to swop one for the other. This has led to the tragedy of the time; where it is those in “specific calls” position that ought to seek and appoint people into “service calls” positions. Now, it is the other way around and some even make appointments and some even appoint themselves. Thus, God’s Hand is removed from the entire process and the mechanization of ordinations is the most obvious evidence today. HYMN: WHEN WE WALK WITH THE LORD TEXT:    1 Timothy 6:17-19, Galatians 6:14, John 2:15-17 INTRODUCTION We are constantly at risk of putting our trust in the things and men we see as insurance for the future or security. We may, for example, unconsciously, feel that the more money we have, the more secured our lives would be. Also, some Christians will do ‘all that needs to be done’ to be considered ‘loyal’ by a reigning Vice- Chancellor, Managing Director, political office holder, pastor, bishop, or boss. This is based on the belief that it guarantees their chances of getting promoted early or getting choice appointments, posting, or rewards even if ‘what needs to be done’ doesn’t square up with the teachings of the scripture. Some of us feel like ‘we have made it’ or deserve extra respect when we become top professionals, doctors, administer a large congregation or a province, a bishopric or a ministry. After all, should a man’s life, and the respect he gets, not be measured by the multitude of things he has acquired especially when it is a high position, wealth or knowledge? HYMN: ROCK OF AGES CLEFT FOR ME TEXT: Josh. 24:15; Matt. 18:18-20; Gen. 18:19; Amos 3:3; James 5:16 INRODUCTION One of the real challenges that we often find in our contemporary, busy lives is finding time to be together as a family. It is especially difficult to find opportunities to pray together. Our Father in Heaven wants us to have strong, loving families. One of the great helps He has given us to achieve this is family prayer. All of us, single or married, are eternally part of some family, someway, somewhere, somehow and much of our joy in life comes as we correctly recognize and properly develop those family relationships. God has placed us in families, where we can learn to overcome selfishness, pride, sacrifice for others, and make happiness, helpfulness, humility and love the very essence of our character. We learn that friends and neighbors come and go but the family remains and we can learn this, we find that we are our brother’s keeper. We need to thank God for the opportunity of family prayer.
